First Annual "Cover Your Cup" Day
ALMAA's First Annual "Cover Your Cup" Day will be held on Thursday, March 11 from 6am-10am in the Chicago Loop and various suburban locations. 7,500 sport bottles, rubber bracelets, and informational literature will be distributed to morning commuters to raise awareness about sexual violence and the instance of Drug Facilitated Sexual Assault (DFSA). Perpetrators must know these acts are felony crimes and will not be tolerated.
March 11, 2010 marks the first anniversary of President Obama's appointment of Valerie Jarrett as the chairperson of the White House Council for Women and Girls. One of the focuses of this newly created council is to work hand-in-hand with the Vice President, the Justice Department’s Office of Violence Against Women and other government officials to find new ways to prevent violence against women, at home and abroad
